No. 1 Billboard Hit, 1976

This song, 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover by Paul Simon, was the number one hit on Billboard’s hottest hit list the day I turned five years old, February 15, 1976. I have heard it before, though it has been a long while. Paul Simon has a smooth voice and the drum line by Steve Gadd is amazing. Overall, this is a great piece of music, but the lyrics do little for me. From my own experience, leaving a lover is quite a bit more complicated than the song implies.

I would love to know if this song has a different meaning to you and why, if you are willing to share. For now, here is the video for you to enjoy.

    • There are plenty of songs I think the lyrics should be rewritten for or the music rewritten for the lyrics… However, I am not a musician, so I will just have to pick and choose what I listen to. 🙂
